OBI @ Health Nexus
Brain Story was first developed by the Palix Foundations’s Alberta Family Wellness Initiative (AFWI) for those seeking a deeper understanding of brain development and its consequences for lifelong health.
Rather than adapting Brain Story to Indigenous contexts, this project seeks to explore and promote Indigenous metaphors and stories that express evidence-based brain science principles in culturally traditional and original ways.
Knowledge Mobilization
Working with communities to develop and mobilize knowledge about Indigenous brain science stories and evaluate their impact using evidence-based research methodologies.
Knowledge Translation
Working with Indigenous community members and their care providers to consider Indigenous-centred metaphors and brains science stories that could be used in strength-based community resilience work.
Knowledge Dissemination
Working with communities and front-line workers to share knowledge about Indigenous brain science stories, evaluate their impact and prepare information for further scaling.
